Not much more to be said but to reaffirm the compliments, there's something quite special about huddling in a pub where such literary greats as CS Lewis and JRR Tolkien huddled before you. With cosy fires burning in them, the front little wooden rooms are definitely the place to secure. Try the green ale on tap, if only for the bizarre looks (and how to tell the locals from the tourists).
