London - Eating & Drinking - Restaurants - Vegetarian
As a red-blooded meat-eater, I had to put on a brave face when walking into Food for thought. A canteen-style counter awaits you down the little staircase with a chalk board boasting the day's fayre - all very hearty, wholesome, home-madey food. The prices seem rather steep for vegetables, but they are generous portions and are sure to fill you up. I had the Hungarian vegetable goulash for £5 which came in a rustic ceramic bowl as I was shifted along the fast moving queue. You fight for a seat around the diminutive tables, but luckily this adds to the charm. It's not somewhere you'd languish in as there's too many comings and goings and so can't quite relax, but for a midweek 5-a-day boost during your lunch break, it's a good stop to make.
